Q1: It is well known that "core shortage" is a common challenge faced by the global semiconductor market. Can you analyze the reasons?

In the next five to eight years, the industry will continue to rush for supply. The main reasons for the current market lack of cores can be summarized into four aspects: 1. Natural disasters and other unexpected events have caused the operation of chip factories to stagnate and reduce chip supply; 2. 5G, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, electric vehicles, computers, consumer electronics, data Market demand for centers, servers, etc. has surged; 3. Affected by geopolitics; 4. Advanced process production capacity is highly concentrated, with too much investment and less expansion; mature process expansion is cautious, and global wafer production capacity is in short supply.


Q2: Can you introduce the role of large silicon chips in chip production?

Silicon wafer is the basic raw material for making chips. In 2021, the scale of global semiconductor materials will increase by 6% to 58.7 billion U.S. dollars. Semiconductor silicon wafers account for 37%, which is approximately 21.7 billion U.S. dollars. The market share of 12-inch wafers is gradually increasing, and the demand for 8-inch and below wafers is relatively stable.


More Moore (MM) and More than Moore (MtM) are two different semiconductor technology paths, and the target end applications are also very different. For example, the MM technology path is mainly used in storage, logic, micro-devices, etc., while the MtM technology path is mainly used For analog, discrete devices, sensors, etc. For different downstream applications, different requirements are also put forward for the production of raw materials such as silicon wafers.


Q3: As a leading company in the production of large silicon wafers in China, what technical advantages does your company Zhongxin Wafer have?

In response to the different needs of the market, Zhongxin Wafers can provide 12-inch COP-FREE large silicon wafers and annealing wafers for the MM technology path, and can also produce 12-inch epitaxial wafers for the MtM technology path, which are heavily doped with arsenic The development of substrates & heavily doped red phosphorous substrates is particularly worthy of attention.


At present, Zhongxin Wafer has established a semiconductor material research institute focusing on semiconductor silicon material technology research and development and testing and analysis.
